To be honest, it was a pretty slow week for news in Alexandria.
That’s likely owed, in part, to it being Spring Break this week.
Z-Burger recently opened on the corner of Pickett Street Plaza, and its owner says the joint also corners the fast-casual burger market in Alexandria’s West End.
Peter Tabibian says Z-Burger is performing better than expected since opening at 684 S. Pickett Street on February 11. The restaurant is visible to drivers on S. Van Dorn Street and S. Pickett Street, but it’s more than just traffic
The big announcement this week was the return of the Yellow Line.
The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) announced this week that the Yellow Line will open again on Sunday, May 7.

While Alexandria’s population declined during the pandemic, Patch reported that the city saw a slight population increase last year.
This past week saw 53 homes sold in Alexandria.
The least expensive condo, single-family home or townhouse sale over the past seven days was $215,000 while the most expensive was $2,030,000.
Alexandria is under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 10 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
According to NWS:
The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) announced last year that the Potomac Yard Metro station would open in May and, as of early April, WMATA says that’s still the case.
A project being on-schedule isn’t typically noteworthy, but the Potomac Yard project has infamously faced repeated delays. The project is now scheduled to open a little over a year after the original plan to open in April 2022.
No injuries were reported after shots were fired in the West End on Monday night.
The incident occurred at around 9:45 p.m. in a residential area near the intersection of Ascot Court and Sanger Avenue, which is a block away from N. Beauregard Street. No arrest was made.
