Alexandria City Council Member Sarah Bagley won the most votes in Tuesday’s election, making her the presumptive vice mayor-elect.
Bagley won a second term, receiving 42,291 votes in Tuesday’s election, just 664 votes more than Council Member John Taylor Chapman, who got the second-most votes with 41,627 votes.
This week saw multiple days of wall-to-wall election coverage, but none of them took the top spot.
That honor went to Hypergoat Coffee Roasters, a new coffee spot that opened in August at 215 N. Payne Street.
Northern Virginia Magazine has released their ranking of the 50 Best Restaurants in Northern Virginia and Alexandria fared better than it did in the Washington Post’s ranking.
Alexandria had four spots on the ranking, all of them in Old Town.
Parents with young kids can soon get a break. Mulberry Lane Play Café, a new daycare/ cafe/coworking office will officially open its doors in Del Ray on Saturday, Nov. 16.
Here’s the idea: While parents relax or work in an adjacent cafe/coworking office, their one-to-six-year-old kids can hang out for up to three hours at a time in a supervised play area.

A planning effort kicking off next year could determine the future of a major transit project in the West End.
Envision Route 7 is an ongoing plan to build a bus rapid transit (BRT) system connecting the Mark Center in Alexandria, through Bailey’s Crossroads and Falls Church, out to Tysons. An update headed to the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission tonight spells out some of what’s ahead for that plan in 2025.
