Who will be the Democratic nominees for Lt. Governor and Attorney General? Early voting begins on Friday

Virginia’s voting season is gearing up, with early voting starting on Friday, May 2, ahead of the June 17 Democratic Primary Election.

Voters will choose nominees for Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General in the upcoming Primary.

For Lieutenant Governor, voters have six candidates to consider in the Democratic Primary:
– Levar Marcus Stoney
– Babur B. Lateef
– Aaron R. Rouse
– Victor R. Salgado
– Ghazala F. Hashmi
– Alexander J. Bastani

The Democratic Primary winner will face off against Republican nominee John Reid in the General Election.

Current Lt. Governor Winsome Earle-Sears (R) will face Abigail Spanberger (D) in the General Election for Governor in November.

The Attorney General Democratic Primary race features two contenders:
– Shannon L. Taylor
– Jay C. Jones

The Democratic Primary winner will face off against incumbent Jason Miyares, a Republican, in the General Election.

Democratic Primary Sample Ballot

Early voting is available at the Alexandria Voter Registration Office (132 N. Royal St., Suite 100) Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. As election day approaches, the office will offer extended hours and weekend voting options.

Starting June 6, Charles Beatley Jr. Central Library will also serve as an early voting location. Check the city’s election website for specific hours.

Prefer voting by mail? You can apply online through the Virginia Department of Elections website or submit a paper application. Just make sure to get your application in by 5 p.m. on June 6, which is 11 days before the election. For added convenience, the city is providing a secure outdoor ballot drop box in front of the Voter Registration Office. It’s available 24/7 from the start of early voting until 7 p.m. on Election Day.
