Alexandria’s Waterfront Park will showcase a new art installation in 2026.

Artist Alicia Eggert was chosen on Tuesday (April 15) by the Alexandria Commission For The Arts to bring her vision for the public art installation “Site See: New Views in Old Town” to life.


The Alexandria Democratic Committee (ADC) is moving after spending over twenty years at 617 N. Washington Street.

Sandy Marks, who chairs the committee, enthusiastically shared the news in a letter emailed to subscribers and supporters on Tuesday (April 15).

The Alexandria Police Department is asking the public for help identifying a suspect linked to several 7-Eleven robberies. The suspect, who has carried a hammer, is still on the loose.

Ford’s Garage, a burger and craft beer restaurant chain with a Ford Motor Company theme, is expanding in Virginia. Today (April 15), the company announced plans to open a new location in Alexandria.

The Tampa-based franchise has struck a deal with FG Nova to launch three new restaurants in Northern Virginia. Alexandria, Fairfax, and Woodbridge are on the list.


A sweeping plan to redevelop two popular parks on the Alexandria waterfront is heading into the city review process.

Waterfront Park (1 Prince Street) and Point Lumley Park (1 Duke Street) in Old Town flood frequently. The city wants to close both parks from the fall of 2026 until the fall of 2028 to rebuild segments of the sea wall and install a pumping station to recirculate floodwaters back to the Potomac River.


After nearly five years in business in Old Town, an apartment hotel is poised to change hands.

San Francisco-based Kasa Living, Inc. filed paperwork with the city last month to take over ownership of the Sonder, a Marriott Bonvoy 15-room apartment hotel at 805 King Street.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Wind Advisory for Alexandria and portions of Washington, D.C.; Maryland; Virginia; and Wester Virginia.

The wind advisory, which is in effect from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday (April 15), expects west winds of 20 to 25 miles per hour and gusts of 45 to 50 miles per hour. The NWS warns that winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.


A new Vietnamese-themed restaurant is under development in Arlandria.

2D Noodles (3823 Mount Vernon Avenue) ‘s interior renovation is nearly complete. The restaurant’s location in the Del Ray North shopping center is two stores down from Sake Express Japanese Hibachi, which is owned by the same local restaurant chain that owns Sake Japanese Steakhouse & Bar at 2016 Eisenhower Avenue.
