A new brewery taproom is opening at the end of the month on Mount Vernon Avenue in Del Ray.
Crooked Run Fermentation plans to open its taproom at 2003 Mount Vernon Avenue on Aug. 28 after a three-month interior renovation. Co-owner Lee Rogan tells ALXnow that a grand opening and ribbon cutting will happen sometime next month.
“We were looking for locations under 1,000 square feet and this spot came up,” Rogan said.
The space has more than 20 interior seats and eight outside seats. It was previously home to Dolce & Bean, which closed in spring 2025.
Rogan and his business partner Jake Endres founded the company in Leesburg in 2013, and have taprooms in Leesburg, Sterling and Northeast D.C. The plan is to open six taprooms across the region, he says.
The Del Ray taproom will serve Crooked Run’s beers, wine, cocktails and a bar menu with chicken tenders, pita bread and hummus and mozzarella sticks.
Rogan also said the tap room will be family friendly and wants an area for stroller parking in a nearby alley.
“We’re not trying to come in and be ‘the place’ in Del Ray,” Rogan said. “Because that’s not what Del Ray is all about. It’s about little places that people can go to and shop in and enjoy, just a local neighborhood spot.”
