JUST IN: Missing Alexandria man found dead in Joseph Hensley Park

The Alexandria Police Department has recovered the remains of an Alexandria man who went missing earlier this month.

Hieu Ngo, 29, was found dead yesterday (Thursday) in a wooded area of Joseph Hensley Park at 4200 Eisenhower Avenue near the Capital Beltway, according to an announcement from APD this morning (Friday). An initial investigation “does not indicate that the death is suspicious,” and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is working to determine the official cause of death, according to the announcement.

Ngo was first reported missing to APD on Dec. 1.

“Detectives of the Criminal Investigations Division conducted a comprehensive missing person investigation, working closely with the family,” according to APD. “During the investigation, information was discovered indicating that Mr. Ngo may have walked into a secluded area near his home to harm himself.”

Ngo was recovered after APD led a search effort in Joseph Hensley Park with assistance from the Arlington County Police Department and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management.

“APD extends our deepest condolences to Mr. Ngo’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” the department wrote. “We also thank the community members and partner agencies who supported efforts to locate him.”
