A heating pipe burst inside Alexandria City Hall last night, shutting down the administrative building today (Wednesday).

According to a release, all other City facilities are open and operating normally.

“To pay taxes, fees, and citations, residents are asked to visit alexandriava.gov/Payments for contactless payment options or utilize the West End Finance Branch Office (4850 Mark Center Dr.) for in-person payments,” the release said.

City Hall is in famously rough shape, scoring an F on an assessment of city facilities. The City is currently in the early stages of a project that will repair and revamp City Hall and Market Square. The design process is scheduled to run through early 2026 with construction from 2026 to 2028.
