VDOT has a quick warning for locals ahead of another winter storm anticipated later this week: don’t get cocky.
In release titled “don’t let your guard down”, VDOT said crews are pretreating roads in anticipation of a storm expected to run from Wednesday morning through Thursday.
“Another week is here, and another winter storm system is expected to develop across the commonwealth, bringing widespread snow to much of the state with a slight chance of wintry mix in the southeast,” VDOT said. “As crews conduct pretreatment activities, drivers should allow them extra space to do their work. ”
VDOR said southeast Virginia is likely to bear the brunt of the snow. In Northern Virginia, there’s a 50% chance of scattered snow showers on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
Earlier this week, Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced that he would submit an Expedited Major Disaster Declaration to President Donald Trump to support Virginia communities — primarily in the southwestern part of the state — heavily impacted by February winter storms.
