Stretch therapy center plans grand opening at larger space in West End this week

Celebrations are in order this week for a stretch therapy center that recently relocated to a larger space in the West End.

Movement in Science has moved to Suite 228 at 50 S. Pickett Street, a little under a mile from its previous location 648 S. Pickett Street. The business has planned a “Wellness Open House” from 9-11 a.m. Thursday and a ribbon cutting on Friday.

“We’re proud to be here in the West End,” founder Kendra Pena-Collazo said in a press release. “This neighborhood is a hidden gem with a growing concentration of health-focused businesses and we can’t wait for others to discover what we know — the West End is where good things are happening. ”

Thursday’s open house is intended for “local health practitioners and organizations that want to offer their customers and clients a unique benefit,” while the ribbon cutting is open to the general public.

Starting next month, the business will offer classes and workshops including a “special partner stretch workshop for Valentine’s Day” and a four-week “Deep Recovery” class that kicks off on Wednesday, Feb. 18.

“I’m so excited that we finally have the space to offer regular classes and group workshops, as well as expand the number of appointments we can take,” Pena-Collazo said. “People have been asking for stretch classes since we opened, and now we can fill that demand.”

Led by Pena-Collazo, longtime personal trainer and licensed massage practitioner, Movement in Science promises “a total body approach to helping people live without aches or persistent and chronic pain to help them live a fuller life.”

Current services include 50- and 90-minute stretch and bodywork maintenance sessions, reiki sessions and various massages and therapies.
