D.C. man sentenced to decade in prison for 2024 abduction, attempted rape in Potomac Yard

A man from D.C. has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, five months after pleading guilty to the 2024 abduction and attempted rape of a woman in Potomac Yard.

Dykwon Perry Davis, 27, was sentenced to 10 years of active incarceration, after pleading guilty in August. The incident occurred in the 2200 block of Main Line Blvd in the early hours of Feb. 3, 2024, when Davis attacked the woman, tried to pull her into an alley and take off her pants.

Davis was sentenced to 50 years in prison on the abduction with intent to defile charge, of which 40 years were suspended, and 10 years for the attempted rape charge, of which five years were suspended, in the decision by Circuit Court Judge Heidi E. Meinzer.

The two sentences are to be served concurrently, with the remainder of the sentence suspended for uniform good behavior in prison, a lifetime of probation, registering as a sex offender, getting substance abuse screening and treatment and paying court costs.

A lifetime protective order was also imposed against Davis, prohibiting contact with the survivor.

In a press release this afternoon (Wednesday), Alexandria Commonwealth’s Attorney Bryan Porter said he was disappointed that the sentence imposed by the court was less than the 25 years in prison sought by his office.

He is also concerned about Davis reoffending upon his release from prison.

“This offense involved every citizen’s nightmare: a nighttime attack on a victim apparently selected at random, just hours after the defendant assaulted and exposed himself to another victim on the Metro in Washington, D.C.,” Porter said.

Porter thanked the Virginia Attorney General’s office for help with the investigation and prosecution.

“My thoughts are with the survivor of this horrendous offense,” Porter said. “While a successful prosecution cannot address the immense impact of the crime, I sincerely hope that it might offer some solace and a chance for the survivor to move forward.”

Davis is being held without bond in the city jail pending his transfer to the Virginia Department of Corrections.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorneys Harsh Voruganti and Ashtyn McDaniel, as well as Assistant Attorney General Robert Strange.
