DEVELOPING: Flash Flood Warning issued for Alexandria

A Flash Flood Warning is in effect in Alexandria and the surrounding area until midnight.

The National Weather Service anticipates a burst of between one-and-three inches of rainfall an hour.

According to NWS:

At 811 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1.5 to 3 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly…
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
