The PNC Alexandria Half Marathon will debut in Old Town on Sunday, April 27. It will feature a half-marathon, a 5K, and a kids’ dash.
This event, produced by Pacers Running and sponsored by PNC Bank, is an evolution of the long-running PNC Parkway Classic. The 13.1-mile course begins at Market Square (301 King St.) and extends through Old Town down the George Washington Parkway. Additional roads surrounding City Hall and Market Square will be closed for race set-up.
Beginning at 2 a.m. on Sunday, the Alexandria Police Department (APD) will begin closing roads to accommodate the event. All City roads on the race route will be closed by 5:30 a.m. and will remain closed until the race is completed, according to APD. No parking zones will be marked in advance of the race. Towing will be enforced beginning at midnight on April 27, the day of the race. For a full list of no-parking zones, please visit alexandriava.gov/go/6920.
The race begins at 7 a.m., and roads will remain closed until approximately noon, when all participants have exited the course and it is safe to reopen them.
