🚨 You need to know

The City of Alexandria is looking for dozens of residents to step up and join its citizen boards and commissions.
This is a chance for community members to have a real say in advising the City Council on a range of important issues.
“We’re looking for Alexandrians who are passionate about our city,” the city recently posted on social media. “Whether you’re into making Alexandria more beautiful, preserving its history, or improving safety for everyone, the City Council wants your input on issues that matter to our community.”
There are plenty of openings across different boards and commissions. These positions cover various interests, from affordable housing and transportation to archaeology, city beautification, and public health. Some key vacancies include spots on the Alexandria Gang Prevention Task Force, the Housing Affordability Advisory Committee, and the Transportation Commission.
If you’re interested in international relations, history, or making the city more attractive, check out openings on the Alexandria-Caen Sister City Committee, Archaeological Commission, and Beautification Commission.
The Commission on HIV/AIDS has several openings, including positions for residents, a high school student, and representatives from various community groups.
Other boards looking for new members include the Commission on Information Technology, Commission on Persons with Disabilities, and the Emergency Medical Services Council.
