Police say a group of robbers smashed into a 7-Eleven with a pick up truck in the West End around 2 a.m. this morning and broke open the ATM, NBC4 reported.
Thieves hit the 7-Eleven at 331 South Whiting Street
During the robbery, the suspects told employees to stay behind the counter before smashing into the store, NBC reported. The group used hammers to break the ATM apart, leaving its shattered husk split open outside the store and its contents gone. Police said a clerk’s phone was also stolen.
Police classified the incident as an attempted commercial robbery.
