A woman was uninjured in an attempted abduction Tuesday evening, and the Alexandria Police Department is asking the public for help.
The victim told police that she was able to break away after a man allegedly grabbed her, put his hand over her mouth and nose, and tried to pull her into the Holmes Run Trail at Tarleton Park, according to APD dispatches.
“The victim described the attempted abductor as a white male, brown hair, blue sweatshirt and knee-length camouflage shorts, who attempted to pull her into a wooded area,” APD said on social media. “She was able to escape without injury.”
Police came up empty after searching the area for more than an hour. APD used K-9 officers and a Fairfax County Police Department helicopter in the search.
On Tuesday night, police asked for residents living nearby who have surveillance cameras to report anyone suspicious.
On Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 30), APD put out an update that no arrest has been made and that detectives are re-canvassing the area.
“Detectives are recanvassing today and going to businesses/warehouses in the area seeking further evidence and information,” APD said on social media.
