The Alexandria Police Department has secured an arrest warrant for a 30-year-old D.C. man in connection to the sexual assault that allegedly occurred in broad daylight at a park near Holmes Run Trail on Tuesday, March 10.

On March 10, the victim reported to police that she was walking home along the trail near Tarleton Park when she saw a man sitting on a park bench. Around noon, the woman heard running footsteps behind her, and as she leaned over to adjust her shopping bags, “she felt hands on the side of her hips and her pants being pulled down,” according to a recently released search warrant affidavit.

Alexandria Police are seeking a suspect in a Tuesday, March 10 assault of a woman around Tarleton Park in the West End.

Police confirmed to ALXnow that officers responded to the assault in the 4400 block of Vermont Avenue around 12 p.m. on March 10. According to scanner traffic, the victim reported she was walking home when a man pulled her pants down. The caller told police the suspect exposed himself.

A woman was uninjured in an attempted abduction Tuesday evening, and the Alexandria Police Department is asking the public for help.

The victim told police that she was able to break away after a man allegedly grabbed her, put his hand over her mouth and nose, and tried to pull her into the Holmes Run Trail at Tarleton Park, according to APD dispatches.
