Like the Battle of Tobruk in 1911, it looks like Turkey may have prevailed over Italy for a battle over restaurant space in Old Town North.
Alexandria Living Magazine reported that L’Italiano Vero, an Italian restaurant supposed to move in at the former Sunday in Saigon location at 682 N. St. Asaph Street, will now be Narman Restaurant and serve Turkish cuisine. Sunday in Saigon closed last November.
“Nestled in the vibrant streets of Alexandria, Virginia, NARMAN invites you on a culinary journey to the crossroads of Europe and Asia,” the restaurant’s website said. “Our restaurant is more than just a dining establishment; it’s a gateway to the rich flavors and warm hospitality of Turkey.”
The restaurant describes itself as a proud dog-friendly cafe.
“From the moment you step through our doors, you’ll be transported to the bustling bazaars of Istanbul and the sun-drenched coasts of the Mediterranean,” the website said.
