The Alexandria Police Department put out a speeding reminder after catching a driver going 59 mph in a 35 mph zone on Duke Street.

“We ask you to slow down and observe speed limits,” the police department said. “Community is a shared responsibility.”

For those needing additional incentive to slow down, it’s worth noting that speed cameras will be active around three Alexandria school zones starting next week with an additional $100 fine.
