Cookbook author Howie Southworth and Alexandria Living Magazine are creating A Taste of Alexandria — a 200+ page hardback cookbook featuring recipes and stories from restaurants around the city.

“A Taste of Alexandria is a cookbook unlike any other,” the magazine said in an Indiegogo fundraiser. “The first edition contains 50+ recipes from today’s standout restaurants, each morsel with some connection to our city’s past. Be it an ingredient, a technique or a straight-up throwback, every dish has a rich story to tell.”

The cookbook alone costs $45 (currently discounted at $40 at time of writing), but there are other bonus points available at higher price points. The cookbook is currently funded at $865 of a $500 goal.

“Since the heyday of Alexandria’s international port, her settlers, visitors and transplants have cooked up a global tableau of culinary pleasures – a legacy that is celebrated by contemporary chefs… often where you’d least expect,” the fundraiser said. “Come along for a kitchen journey that spans centuries, offers plenty of delicious trivia, and aims to define Alexandria Cuisine.”
