After a sold-out event two years ago, tickets are on sale for the next Del Ray House & Garden Tour returning on Saturday, May 9.

The biennial tour, hosted by the Del Ray Citizens Association, gives ticket holders access to participating homes and gardens throughout the neighborhood. This year’s event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

An annual walking tour with Old Town North’s Urban Design Advisory Committee this month will highlight several new developments in the area.

During the walk on Wednesday, Nov. 12, city staff will provide participants with information on the mixed-use development project at Robinson Terminal North, redevelopment of the Montgomery Center and the Ladrey Apartments, among other developments.

The owner of the dilapidated former Potomac River Generating Station in Old Town North will conduct guided tours of the property next month.

HRP Group bought the former power plant in 2020, and plans to convert the 18-acre site at 1300 N. Royal Street into a mixed-use development. The guided tours will be held Friday, Oct. 3, and Saturday, Oct. 4, and “will give community members the chance to meet the project team and visit the site, which has been inaccessible to Old Town North for decades,” according to HRP Group.

Where does all that water go after it rains, or after you take a shower?

AlexRenew is hosting free open house tours of its wastewater facility at 1800 Limerick Street in Alexandria’s Carlyle neighborhood. The tours last approximately 45 minutes and will be held on September 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Children aged 14-17 must be accompanied by a guardian, and all visitors are required to wear closed-toe shoes and pants. They will also be provided with a hard hat, safety vest, and toe covers.
