The Dog Store on Mount Vernon Avenue in Del Ray will shut down on Saturday, June 27, its owner said on social media.

Shop owner Paul Haire said that the shop is closing due to “circumstances beyond our control.” The 2301 Mount Vernon Avenue location remains open for in-store sales through June 27. After that, it will temporarily move from 2301 Mount Vernon Avenue to Haire’s dog boarding facility Your Dog’s Best Friends at 2000 Richmond Highway. The business will continue to offer online ordering with free delivery.

After being open for a year, a vintage gift shop in Del Ray is closing at the end of June.

Amy Sills Eggers, the owner of Stardust Vintage and Gift (1904 Mount Vernon Avenue), told ALXnow that she needs to focus on her family. She said she’ll be selling all of her merchandise and fixtures at a discount.

Amazon Fresh will close Potomac Yard location as it shuts down all stores nationwide

Amazon Fresh announced today (Tuesday) that it will close all its stores nationwide, including the location at Potomac Yard that opened just a year and a half ago.

The last day for most Amazon Fresh stores across the country is Feb. 1, according to the Associated Press. Amazon plans to shutter all Amazon Fresh and Amazon Go stores, converting some locations into Whole Foods Markets, according to a press release.

Ross Dress For Less is closing next month in Old Town.

The department store at 112 N. Washington Street will close forever on Friday, Jan. 16, according to a sign posted on the retailer’s door. After closing, the building will be renovated and turned into a new “upper school” for the private Linder Academy, which first opened in Old Town in 2021.
