Stardust Vintage and Gift shop closing in Del Ray in June

After being open for a year, a vintage gift shop in Del Ray is closing at the end of June.

Amy Sills Eggers, the owner of Stardust Vintage and Gift (1904 Mount Vernon Avenue), told ALXnow that she needs to focus on her family. She said she’ll be selling all of her merchandise and fixtures at a discount.

“I’ve made friends for life,” Eggers said. “It might sound cliche, but I’m going to miss the customers and people I wouldn’t have otherwise met.”

Stardust Vintage and Gift, which replaced former antique store La Brocante, built on Eggers’ success with the Del Ray Vintage and Flea Market and has held classes and events in addition to its retail offerings.

Eggers, who is also a realtor with Compass Real Estate, will continue running the Del Ray Vintage and Flea Market. She said the past year has been rewarding — and that she gained two cats in the process. Last summer, a cat gave birth to six kittens in the alley near the shop. Eggers adopted two of them and named them Roman and Elvira.

“I didn’t know how it was going to go going into it,” she said. “I survived the government shutdown and the ice storm. I don’t regret it at all and I’m so grateful that I had the opportunity.”
