Virtue Feed and Grain Sows Seeds for Alleyway Expansion

Old Town waterfront restaurant Virtue Feed and Grain could make a recent its outdoor dining expansion permanent if the closure of a nearby alleyway by the waterfront goes through.

At the Planning Commission meeting on Tuesday, March 2, the city is putting forward a proposal to close Wales Alley between S. Union and Strand streets to vehicle traffic.

Alexandria Mayor Asks Governor to Open Vaccine Eligibility for Restaurant, Personal Care and Retail Workers

Alexandria Mayor Justin Wilson wants Governor Ralph Northam to include retail, personal care and restaurant workers in phase 1B of coronavirus vaccine distribution.

“Not only are these workers vital to the economic health and vitality of our communities, but the are, more often than not, those in our community who are bearing the burden of COVID-19 more acutely than others,” Wilson wrote in a letter to Northam.

Hookah Lounge With Schwarma Coming to Alexandria’s West End

The owner of a hookah lounge has filed a special use permit to operate a hookah lounge and restaurant in the West End.

Diko Bar and Lounge would take over at the former home of the all-vegan Chez Hareg Cafe at 5245 Duke Street. The 1,200-square-foot location is next door to Shooter McGee’s, across the street from the Canterbury Square Condominiums and near the Alexandria Fire Station 208.

He was one of the nicest people we knew and was a member of the BI varsity soccer team. He played fullback  and was an avid soccer player and was one of the hardest workers on the team. Bread & Water Co. at the Belle View Shopping Center has decided to expand its menu with a fried chicken sandwich.

For $10 every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, customers can get a fried chicken sandwich on a homemade brioche bun, with pickles and special sauce. New $4.50 side orders include waffle fries, brownies and banana pudding.

Holy Cow Del Ray Commemorates Closed Atlantis Pizzeria With New Burger

Del Ray burger joint Holy Cow’s (2312 Mount Vernon Ave) “burgers of the moment” have spotlit local controversies or elected leaders, but this month’s burger is a melancholy memorial to the recent closure of Atlantis Restaurant and Pizzeria.

The Atlantis burger features Angus beef and feta cheese with pickled onion, lettuce, tomato, and tzatziki on a brioche bun. The sandwich is $8.95.
