(Updated 1:50 p.m.) Alexandria police officers responded to sounds of gunfire last night (Sunday) near the Braddock Road Metro found a man shot minutes later.

Residents who called police around 11:47 p.m. Sunday reported hearing multiple gunshots in the area of North West Street and Madison Street.

Alexandria police are investigating a possible home invasion robbery near Mark Center.

A woman reportedly told police she was tied up and robbed during an early morning home invasion on Saturday in the 1400 block of Catlin Lane. Police responded to her residence around 5:15 a.m. after she said she had been hog tied and robbed of her car and personal items by two men armed with a gun.

John Thomas Bey, a 52-year old resident of Alexandria, has been hit with several charges connected to his alleged role in a barricade situation last week that lasted nearly 24 hours.

Bey has been charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm in a school zone, attempted felonious assault, and malicious shooting into an occupied police vehicle, according to a press release from the City of Alexandria.

A 26-year-old Maryland woman faces serious charges after allegedly fleeing from a police investigation of a shoplifting offense at the Target store in the Potomac Yard shopping center.

“During the course of investigating this incident, one of the suspects resisted arrest and jumped into a vehicle,” police reported in a search warrant affidavit.

No arrests have been made after a series of car break-ins at an apartment building in Arlandria.

There have been four incidents at 511 Four Mile Road of parked cars being broken into and valuables stolen, according to Alexandria Police.

(Updated 1:30 p.m.) Police say a barricade situation that’s been ongoing for roughly 24 hours has been peacefully resolved.

It started with a road-rage incident around noon yesterday (Tuesday) that spiraled into a barricade situation where the man fired at police outside of his home on the 1000 block of Woods Place. Nearby roads were shut down and athletic activities at the nearby Alexandria City High School campus were canceled.

(Updated at 11:55 a.m.) A two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon (Nov. 24) shut down traffic on N. Van Dorn Street from Taney Avenue to Holmes Run Parkway earlier today.

The incident was reported to the public via Twitter at 10:55 a.m., the Alexandria Fire Department and police are at the scene. Police and medics were dispatched to the scene, according to scanner traffic.

(Updated 5/9/22) A 38-year-old Maryland man is being held without bond after a violent argument against his ex-girlfriend in her West End apartment on November 2.

The incident occurred at around 12:30 p.m. in the 5400 block of Bradford Court. The victim told police that she was driving home and talking with the suspect on Facetime, but that he was already waiting for her in the parking lot to meet in person. They met and went inside the apartment, where the victim allegedly told the suspect that she was starting a romantic relationship with someone else, according to a search warrant affidavit.

(Updated 5:40 p.m.) A barricade situation near Woods Place and Quaker Lane, a few blocks from Alexandria City High School, started a little after noon today and police said, around 5:40 p.m., shots were reported fired inside the home.

Public Information Officer Marcel Bassett told ALXnow the barricade situation is ongoing and shots were fired around 5:30 p.m.
