A man has been charged with grand larceny for allegedly stealing items from a room in the Super 8 Motel at 110 S. Bragg Street on Saturday, March 14.
The victim left her room at 1 p.m. to pay for an additional night at the motel, and afterward left for several hours. When she returned to her room, her valuables were gone. She called police, who found out that a key to the room was mistakenly issued to a new guest at 1:22 p.m., according to a search warrant affidavit.

A 42-year-old Alexandria man was arrested for a hit and run and driving under the influence after allegedly smashing his Land Rover into a telephone pole in the West End on Monday, March 9.
At around 11:30 p.m., an Alexandria Police officer was on mobile patrol when he reported finding vehicle debris and a snapped telephone pole in the area of Lincolnia Road and Quantrell Avenue.
The Alexandria Police Department is reducing some of its in-person services to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19.

An adult woman is dead after falling off the Seminary Road overpass to Van Dorn Street in the city’s West End, according to Alexandria Police.
Police were notified that the woman fell off the overpass, which does not have a sidewalk, at around 5:15 p.m. She was declared dead at the hospital and her identity has not yet been released.
Police say two men were stabbed and robbed by two unknown suspects on Sunday night near the Holmes Run Trail.
The incident reportedly took place around 10 p.m. on the 5700 block of Sanger Avenue on a trail behind the William Ramsey Recreation Center.
Two men and a juvenile have been arrested for an armed robbery and carjacking near the Mark Center in the West End last month.
At around 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, an Alexandria man and woman were parking his car in the 5500 block of Forrestal Ave. when they were reportedly approached by four males wearing ski masks. According to police, the suspects opened the driver and passenger-side doors, punched the victims multiple times, and threatened to shoot them.
