Pepper the tricolor guinea pig is very sweet, and the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria is trying to find him a new home.

“Pepper is a clever guy who loves toys and entertainment, including wood and cardboard toys to chew, equipment for exercise, and, of course, a hiding hole for sleeping and spying,” said AWLA spokesperson Gina Hardter.

Historic Building that inspired ‘Mercy Street’ to be private residence, museum offices — “The building was converted into the Mansion House Hotel and served as a Union Hospital during the Civil War. Green and the hospital were depicted in the TV drama series “Mercy Street,” which aired on PBS from 2016-2017. NOVA Parks has owned the property since 1970, using it as office space and leasing the rest of the space to other companies. The a 10-year-old Lhasa Apso may sometimes resemble the head of a mop, but he’s actually a sweet and snuggly senior pup who loves spending all his time with people, according to the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.

“Bandit’s a pretty chill guy who keeps a slower pace but is always up for a walk or a lap around the yard,” AWLA spokesperson Gina Hardter told ALXnow.

Bertha is always dressed for company. The nine-year-old short-haired cat has a built-in tuxedo, and is up for adoption via the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.

Bertha is part of AWLA’s Super Seniors Adoption Extravaganza event this weekend, where adoption costs have been waived for more than a dozen animals over eight years old, including BeanCole and Mickey.

Sara is recovering from knee surgery in the care of a foster family, and her adoption fee has been taken care of by a donor.

“Though she is technically a senior, you’d never guess by her goofy manner and excited personality,” AWLA spokesperson Gina Hardter told ALXnow. “There is nothing she loves more than a good, dedicated snuggle session with her favorite humans.”

Statewide vaccine town hall tonight — “The Virginia Department of Health will host a live broadcast Town Hall on May 4, from 7 to 8 p.m. The program will feature in-depth discussion about COVID-19 vaccines and offer a forum to ask questions about the vaccines and the next steps in the vaccine roll out.
