Alexandria’s annual Summer Sidewalk Sale is returning next month.

The sale will feature over 40 local boutiques from around the city including local favorites like Old Town Books, fibre space and The Dog Park, Visit Alexandria said in a release. As the name suggests, the sale will feature sales set up outside stores along King Street in Old Town.

A new special use permit shows that regional pizza chain Andy’s Pizza could be coming to the former Meggrolls space (107 North Fayette Street) in Old Town.

The local pizza chain made waves last year after winning the top prize for New York-style pizza in the International Pizza Challenge.

Live music, antique fire engines, craft booths and more will be on-hand on Saturday, August 6, at the annual Friendship Firehouse Festival in Old Town.

The free event will be held at the firehouse (107 S. Alfred Street) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and guests will be able to view the renovated Prettyman Hose Carriage, which dates back to 1858, and the Rodgers Suction Engine (1851).

Alexandria Police are investigating the theft of credit cards and other items belonging to employees at a number of shops in Old Town.

Red Barn Mercantile (1117 King Street), the AR Workshop Alexandria (1212 King Street) and Ms. Moxie’s Moon Shop (102 N. Fayette Street) were hit with theft over the weekend.
