Today the hospital system announced the groundbreaking for the 1.1 million-square-foot project located at the former Landmark Mall.

The Alexandria Police Department identified 29-year-old Luis Cardona Cerezo as the victim of last week’s death at the Inova at Landmark construction site.
APD has not released the circumstances surrounding Cerezo’s death, except to say that he was “fatally struck by a vehicle.”

The Alexandria Police Department (APD) is investigating a death at the former Landmark Mall construction site around 7:30 a.m. this morning.
A vehicle was involved in the death of a 30-year-old male who suffered a vehicle-related head injury at the 5701 Duke Street construction site, according to scanner traffic.
A 14-building apartment complex next door to the former Landmark Mall property recently sold for $225 million, the Washington Business Journal first reported.
The City’s Office of Real Estate Assessments confirmed the March 28 sale and the amount, which have not yet been posted online.
Inova Alexandria Hospital has run out of space and needs a temporary trailer for surgical equipment in the hospital loading area.
Inova is asking the city to approve a special use permit to use the 906-square-foot temporary trailer until Alexandria Hospital moves to Inova at Landmark in 2028.
