(Updated 4:20 p.m.) The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a dead woman found inside a parked car at a gas station in the West End of the city.

APD was notified of an unresponsive woman sitting in the parking lot of the Liberty gas station at 3468 King Street at around 8:15 a.m.

(Updated 9:35 a.m.) After being unable to find a handgun or shell casing, the Alexandria Police Department (APD) is investigating the shooting death of a 15-year-old boy in a West End apartment building as “suspicious.”

The shooting occurred in an apartment in the 300 block of S. Whiting Street at around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 29), according to APD. The call to police was made by a person who said that the victim shot himself, but APD could not find a firearm or shell casing at the scene, according to scanner traffic.

(Update at 11:10 p.m.) A man who was hospitalized after a shooting in Arlandria has died, according to police.

Alexandria police identified the victim as 29-year-old Eric Holmes Jr. and asked the public for tips.

A 22-year-old Maryland man has been charged with the murders of an Alexandria man in 2022 and a Bristow man in 2021, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

On July 10, police arrested Corde Fitzhugh-Clingman, of Hyattsville, and charged him with two counts of first degree murder while armed for the 2022 death of 26-year-old Zekariya Elmi, of Alexandria, and the 2021 death of 24 year-old Muntsier Sharfi, of Bristow.

(Updated 4:35 p.m.) Police are investigating a child’s death at an apartment building on the 200 block of Yoakum Parkway around 2 p.m. today.

Police Chief Don Hayes said police found a three-year-old boy who fell from one of the upper floors and died.

(Updated 11:10 a.m.) After the death of Alexandria City High School student Yonathan Isaí Vasquez Méndez earlier this week, friends and family are raising funds to help cover funeral expenses and other costs.

While no cause of death has been officially announced, scanner traffic at the time indicated first responders were administering Narcan and later that day, the City of Alexandria issued a warning about fentanyl-laced drugs after “two recent suspected drug overdoses involving school-aged youth,” the Alexandria Times first reported.

An Alexandria teenager is being held without bond on manslaughter charges after a “sudden death” last Friday in the Lynhaven neighborhood.

Court records show that 19-year-old Alexandria resident Junior Espinal-Calix was arrested and is being held without bond. Police said Calix is charged with involuntary manslaughter.

The Alexandria Police Department (APD) is investigating a sudden death on East Reed Avenue in the Lynhaven neighborhood.

East Reed Avenue was still closed as of 4 p.m. While scanner traffic indicated police were dispatched to a report that a 21-year-old man was shot, Alexandria Police spokesman Marcel Bassett said police could not currently confirm the cause of death.
