BREAKING: No bond for driver after pedestrian suffers life-threatening injuries in upper King Street crash

A 19-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash on upper King Street on Wednesday night, and a 42-year-old Fairfax man is being held without bond for the incident.

The pedestrian was struck near the intersection of King Street and Dawes Avenue at around 8:40 p.m. The striking vehicle, a gray Acura, then hit a light pole, knocking down power lines and temporarily shutting down the street. The suspect was first reported to have struck multiple vehicles, less than a mile away, in a parking lot in the 5100 block of Skyline Drive in Bailey’s Crossroads.

A bicyclist was struck and injured by a vehicle on Wednesday morning (April 9), and the Alexandria Police Department is asking for witnesses to come forward.

The incident occurred at around 7 a.m. near the intersection of Eisenhower Avenue and Metro Road near the Van Dorn Metro Station. The victim was struck by a Mazda CR-V and suffered a non-life-threatening facial injury, according to police.

No arrest after Mercedes-Benz crashes into parked cars and flips in Old Town

No arrest was made after a crash that damaged multiple vehicles and upturned a red Mercedes-Benz in Old Town earlier this month.

According to a recently released search warrant affidavit, at around 9 p.m. on Monday, March 3, witnesses reported to police that the red luxury car crashed into a black Nissan Sentra, a white Subaru Outback, and a black Toyota Camry and then flipped over in the 900 block of S. Columbus Street.

A 27-year-old woman was injured when struck by a driver operating a four-door sedan as she crossed Mount Vernon Avenue in Arlandria on Thursday night (March 6).

The woman suffered a non-life threatening injury in the incident, which occurred at around 7 p.m. outside the Exxon Station at 4001 Mount Vernon Avenue.

The City of Alexandria is asking residents and visitors that spot wreckage from the mid-air collision last night near National Airport not to touch it.

“We understand the curiosity and concerns residents may have,” the City of Alexandria said. “We strongly encourage visitors to the waterfront to not touch or collect anything you believe may be related to this incident.”

A U.S. Capitol Police motorcycle officer was injured in a crash in Del Ray Monday morning (Dec. 2).

The male officer sustained minor injuries in the crash and the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, according to the Alexandria Police Department. There’s no word from APD on who hit who, and charges have not been filed at this time.

After the drivers of a suspected stolen vehicle in Alexandria refused to stop late last night, a pursuit followed that ended in a crash and injuries in the Belle Haven area of Fairfax.

Virginia State Police (VSP) were assisting Alexandria Police with the stop of the suspected stolen vehicle, a Hyundai Elantra, near Duke and S. Van Dorn streets around 11 p.m.

Victim identified after Tuesday’s fatal 5-vehicle crash on I-495 in Alexandria

Lauren Johnson-Lavender, a nurse from Mashpee, Massachusetts, died at the scene after the car she was traveling in, a Lexus SUV, was rear-ended by a Dodge Ram at around 5:35 p.m., according to VSP. The Lexus was stopped in traffic, and once hit by the Ram created a domino effect and it then rear-ended a Ford F-150.

VSP said that the Dodge Ram went “airborne.”
