A pedestrian suffered minor injuries Thursday morning after a driver struck them with their car at a busy Old Town intersection, Alexandria police said.

The incident occurred around 9:45 a.m. at King Street and Fairfax Street, near City Hall. The adult male pedestrian was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the police. No charges have been filed, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

Police said the pedestrian had left the area before officers arrived, but his mother called 911 to report the accident. It was not immediately clear whether the pedestrian was in a crosswalk at the time of the collision.

The intersection of King Street and Fairfax Street sees heavy foot traffic during morning hours, as it’s located in the heart of Old Town’s business district.
