JUST IN: W. Glebe Road shut down in Arlandria after SUV strikes pedestrian

Update: W. Glebe Road has reopened. 

The Alexandria Police Department has shut down W. Glebe Road between Milan Drive and Valley Drive after a vehicle struck a pedestrian early this evening.

The crash was reported at the intersection of Florence Drive around 5:30 p.m. The adult victim was struck by a black Toyota SUV near the intersection of W. Glebe Road and Florence Drive and has been transferred to George Washington University Hospital with serious injuries, according to APD.

APD and the Alexandria Fire Department responded to the scene. A dispatcher said the victim was found bleeding from the mouth and experiencing trouble breathing.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes while police investigate.
