Potomac Yard Metro to Create Jobs — “Those behind the new Potomac Yard Metro station say the area is about to be transformed in more ways than one…. Santa to Visit the King Street Trolly Next Week

Next Saturday, the Old Town trolly will run from the Metro to the Waterfront by way of the North Pole.

On Saturday, Dec. 14, Santa is scheduled to make an appearance at a King Street Trolly parked outside City Hall (301 King Street). The trolly is a free, year-round shuttle along King Street operated by the DASH bus service.

Where to Snag a Christmas Tree Around Alexandria

If you waited, unlike the City of Alexandria, to put up your Christmas decorations after Thanksgiving, there are plenty of places to get your tree.

For one, the Alexandria Police Department is hosting its annual Christmas tree sale, a yearly fundraiser that helps cover the cost of sending over 50 children to Camp Kekoka in the summer. The program specifically aims to help Alexandria children who would otherwise be unable to afford summer camp.

Local Inmates Responsible for Much of Old Town’s Holiday Decorations

Old Town Alexandria is widely renowned for it’s Christmas atmosphere, but it’s local inmates who do much of the work to get those decorations up.

In addition to the lights in trees on King Street, there are garlands and ribbons around poles and lamp posts throughout Old Town.

Holiday ‘Yuletide by Candlelight’ Event Coming to Alexandria Next Month

Del Ray More Influential Than Old Town? — “For many years, Old Town dominated city politics. Del Ray didn’t even become part of the city until 1930. Now it seems the influence of the ‘little neighborhood that could’ has become outsized. Official Tree Lighting in Old Town Scheduled for End of November

If you’re one of the people who gets upset at Christmas being celebrated before Thanksgiving, you might be vexed by the City of Alexandria’s holiday schedule.

The official Tree Lighting Ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 23 at Market Square (301 King Street).
