After his motorcycle was stolen during a test drive, an Alexandria man tracked it down days later on Facebook Marketplace.

The incident occurred at the victim’s business in the 4900 block of Eisenhower Avenue on Thursday, March 20. The victim listed his blue 2004 Suzuki GSX-R9600 for sale on Facebook Marketplace, and the suspect reached out via Facebook Messenger and asked for a test drive, according to a recently released search warrant affidavit. The suspect allegedly took the bike for a ride and never returned, and on March 25 the victim found the motorcycle listed in another Facebook Marketplace ad.

A North Carolina murder suspect was recently arrested in Alexandria and has been charged with murder and robbery with a deadly weapon.

The victim, 25-year-old Jose Alexander Lara Hernandez, was shot to death in Charlotte on April 19. Two days later, the Alexandria Police Department was notified by a license plate reader that a car belonging to the suspect, Danny Cardoza Lara, was located in the parking lot of a hotel in the 100 block of S. Bragg Street in the city’s West End.

A woman is safe after allegedly being abducted and assaulted by a naked man along the Mount Vernon Trail in Old Town North earlier this month.

“The suspect pinned both of her forearms down and she fought to break free,” police said a recently released search warrant affidavit. “(The victim) said she realized the suspect was fully naked when he was on top of her and she saw his penis. (The victim) tried to push him away specifically with her right hand to the suspect’s left arm. (The victim) said she yelled and the suspect covered her mouth with his hand. The suspect told her, ‘Do you want to die?'”

More charges have been filed against a 34-year-old Alexandria man accused of firing and brandishing a handgun from his car at other drivers.

Perry Ellis Barmore was charged with two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault, and use of a firearm in commission of a felony and released to home detention last month for multiple road rage incidents in Maryland in 2024. On April 18, Barmore was arrested by the U.S. Marshal’s Service and the Maryland State Police and charged with attempted murder and felony assault.

New charges of aggravated manslaughter and driving while intoxicated have been made against the suspect arrested for last week’s fatal crash on King Street.

The Alexandria Police Department announced the additional charges against suspect Jilmar Doria-Medina, the 42-year-old Fairfax man currently being held without bond in the Fairfax County Jail after the April 16 crash that took the life of 19-year-old Abdullahi Mumin.

The 19-year-old victim of Wednesday night’s (April 16) hit-and-run on King Street has succumbed to his injuries.

The Alexandria Police Department has identified the victim as Abdullahi Mumin and said that he succumbed to his injuries at Inova Fairfax Hospital. Mumin was struck near the intersection of King Street and Dawes Avenue, at around 8:40 p.m.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced this week the arrest of a 40-year-old Salvadoran woman in Alexandria on Feb. 25.

Silvia Lorana Bonilla-De Jandres was arrested as part of an investigation by the Virginia State Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Drug Enforcement Administration. She was arrested more than a month ago, on the same day that a 41-year-old Salvadoran woman was arrested by ICE in Alexandria.

Three men are in custody after allegedly assaulting a man and stealing his shoes on a DASH bus this afternoon (Tuesday) in Alexandria’s West End.

The Alexandria Police Department confirmed that three adult males were arrested in the incident. A DASH bus driver called in a fight in the bus between multiple males at around 2:20 p.m. in the 2500 block of N. Van Dorn Street.
