Maintenance workers restrain larceny suspect at West End apartment complex

Two maintenance workers at a West End apartment complex restrained a man last week after he allegedly threatened one of them with a knife.

Alexandria Police Department was alerted to the incident around 4:30 p.m. last Thursday. When police arrived, they found the suspect, an Annandale man, restrained by the maintenance worker and his supervisor, APD told ALXnow via email.

No injuries were reported, and no weapons were recovered, according to APD. The suspect was later released.

“[The suspect] was taken into custody and charged with petit larceny under Code of Virginia §18.2-96,” an APD spokesperson wrote. “He was released on a Virginia Uniform Summons.”
