A 48-year-old Maryland man is being held without bond after allegedly abducting his ex-girlfriend in her luxury apartment in Alexandria’s Carlyle neighborhood.

The incident occurred on the morning of Jan. 28 (Tuesday) in an apartment in the 800 block of John Carlyle Street. Just after 9:30 a.m., a woman called 911 to report an abduction of her friend by her friend’s ex-boyfriend.

More details have been released on Alexandria resident Timothy McGhee, a substitute teacher in Arlington charged in January with stalking and taking indecent liberties with an underage Washington-Liberty High School student.

McGhee, a 47-year-old substitute math teacher at Washington-Liberty High School in Arlington, unsuccessfully ran for state Senate in Arlington and Alexandria in 2011. He was arrested on Jan. 10 and charged with stalking and taking indecent liberties with a child by a person in a supervisory or custodial relationship.

Earlier this week, the Alexandria Police Department arrested a man on an outstanding warrant from Arlington after he allegedly brandished a weapon at the King Street Metro station.

On Wednesday around 5 p.m., scanner traffic noted reports came in that a man had pulled out a gun at the station, though later review of video footage found that he had pulled out a knife.

Alexandria City High School students will return from winter break to a safe learning environment with “additional supports,” Superintendent Melanie Kay-Wyatt told the School Board Thursday night.

The comments were made in the wake of fights at Alexandria City High School‘s King Street campus on Wednesday that injured a student and knocked out a teacher. Two students were arrested and charged with assault and battery.

The driver of a vehicle involved in a wrong-way pursuit into Old Town this morning has been arrested, though two other suspects remain at large.

Around 3 a.m. this morning (Monday), Virginia State Police (VSP) attempted to stop a stolen vehicle at the intersection of Route 1 and Quander Road in Fairfax County.

Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) said in an alert to parents that a bus driver has been “placed on leave” effectively immediately after being charged with a murder.

ACPS said the bus driver in question is Carlas William Carter. Carter, 37, was arrested along with Alexandria resident Mary Ashby, 26, for the fatal shooting of Tamara Jones, 26, in Oxon Hill.

A 49-year-old Alexandria woman and her 40-year-old boyfriend are being held without bond after she allegedly encouraged him to pay for sex with her juvenile daughter.

The mother was arrested Oct. 10 and charged with production of child pornography and possession/distribution of child pornography. The male suspect, who lives in Manassas, was arrested Oct. 11 and charged with rape, aggravated sexual battery, indecent liberties with a child under 15 and possession of child pornography.

The Alexandria Police Department apprehended a man wielding a knife and trying to board buses on Duke Street around 11:20 a.m. today.

Scanner traffic indicated the man attempted to a bus at the intersection of Duke Street and Jordan Street. The bus driver reportedly shut the door to keep him from entering the bus. The man reportedly tried to get onto another bus with the knife and the second driver did the same thing.

Alexandria police discovered a “commercial-grade smoke bomb” while searching a vehicle on King Street in Old Town on Saturday (Nov. 2) afternoon.

At around 1 p.m., an APD officer reported identifying a 30-year-old suspect wanted for felony destruction of property and wearing a mask in public (also a felony).
