Seven Old Town Alexandria boutiques are joining forces for a first-ever group fundraiser to support The Center for Alexandria’s Children from June 14 to 29.

The participating stores – 529 Kids Consign, Monday’s Child, Ms. Moxie’s Moon Shop, Old Town Books Jr., Penny Post, Pippin Toy Co., and Red Barn Mercantile – are working together to raise funds and collect donations for the Center’s mission to end child abuse.

Hundreds of community members gathered at Alexandria’s Market Square Friday evening (June 7) for the annual Wear Orange rally, joining a nationwide movement to honor victims and survivors of gun violence while demanding action to address what speakers called a public health crisis.

The event, organized by the Alexandria local group of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, featured emotional testimonials from survivors, calls to action from elected officials, and artistic performances highlighting the impact of gun violence.

Xi’an Famous Foods, the popular Chinese chain from New York City, has officially expanded to the Washington, D.C. area. Known for its hand-pulled noodles and spicy cumin lamb burger, the restaurant now offers takeout and delivery in Alexandria.

The chain operates out of Four Mile Food Co., a ghost kitchen at 1033 W Glebe Rd., where it recently started serving customers in the area.
