The Alexandria Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred near the Holmes Run Trail last night (Monday).

Around 8:15 p.m., a male victim reported to APD that a masked man had approached him with a handgun at the 200 block of S. Jenkins Street before stealing his driver’s license and debit card. The suspect reportedly fled in the direction of the Holmes Run Trail, according to APD dispatches.

An Alexandria developer has proposed replacing a small outdoor parking lot in Old Town with a new mixed-use apartment building.

Windmill Hill is seeking approval to build a three-story, eight-unit apartment building with ground floor retail at 220 and 224 S. Peyton Street. The 4,400-square-foot property is currently home to a 16-space outdoor parking lot located about a quarter-mile from the King St.-Old Town Metro station.

Applications for Alexandria’s Stormwater Utility (SWU) Fee Credit Program opened today (Monday).

Property owners can apply for credits electronically or with hard copies through Feb. 15, 2026, and may be eligible for up to a 50% reduction on SWU fees “by installing eligible practices,” according to a city announcement.

The city of Alexandria will showcase progress and accept feedback for the ongoing Duke Street Land Use Plan during an open house next week.

The Dog Store is now open at 1612 Belle View Blvd, replacing a vacancy left by the Pampered Pet Boutique & Bakery earlier this year. Owner Paul Haire founded the shop’s first location in Del Ray in 2014, after opening Your Dog’s Best Friends daycare in 2003.
