Pride of Baltimore II to arrive in Alexandria, prompting Woodrow Wilson Bridge opening

The Pride of Baltimore II will be sailing into Alexandria Thursday for several days of tours and sails.

The Woodrow Wilson Memorial Bridge, a drawbridge on the Capital Beltway (I-495), will open at midnight Thursday (April 30) to allow the ship to pass. Drivers should expect delays during the drawbridge opening and follow signs displayed on the bridge, according to the city government.

This is the first visit of the Pride of Baltimore II‘s 2026 sailing season. The tall ship, a replica of a Baltimore Clipper, pays homage to Baltimore privateer vessels during the War of 1812. The Pride of Baltimore II replaced the original Pride of Baltimore, which sank in 1986.

The ship will be docked at the G/H pier of Alexandria’s City Marina near Founders Park. Visitors are encouraged to join free deck tours or book a sail. The timing of the tall ship’s route and sails depends on weather and wind conditions.

The Pride of Baltimore II’s real-time location can be tracked on its website.
