☀️ Today’s weather: The weather will be mostly sunny with a high near 35, and a calm wind turning south at 5 to 7 mph in the morning. Monday night will see mostly cloudy skies, a low around 27, and a south wind around 5 mph turning calm after midnight.
The biggest story this week was a series of fights at Alexandria City High School on Wednesday. Two students were arrested for assault and battery.
Alexandria City Public Schools closed the campus and switched to virtual learning on Thursday and Friday (today) with a pledge from the the school division that administration will work to devise a plan for additional measures to be implemented early next year. Superintendent Melanie Kay-Wyatt said “the plan will include severe consequences for any disruptive behavior.”

Wednesday night, showers continue mainly before 1am, with patchy fog clearing by 10pm and a low around 38. Southwest winds, 7 to 15 mph, will shift northwest after midnight, gusting up to 20 mph. It’s been another busy week as we head toward the end of 2024.
It was a big couple weeks for new restaurant stories, from a new Asian restaurant taking over the Red Lobster spot to Shake Shack moving to Old Town.
