A 21-year-old Alexandria man goes to court next month after allegedly stabbing a man twice in the bus loop area of the King Street-Old Town Metro station.
On May 5, the victim called 911 to report he’d been assaulted at the King Street Metro station. At the scene, the man told an Alexandria Police Department officer that he was punched in the head, “but upon further examination by medical staff it was determined that he had been stabbed twice,” according to a recently released search warrant affidavit.
An investigating APD officer contacted Metro Transit Police, which reviewed security footage and tracked the suspect, identified as Carlos Vega, boarding a train at the Clarendon Metro station and arriving at the King Street station at around 10:07 p.m. Three minutes later, the suspect walked out to the bus loop area and almost immediately got into a fight with the victim as he exited a Metro bus, according to the affidavit.
Vega was arrested and charged with malicious wounding, a Class 3 felony punishable by five to 20 years in prison and a $100,000 fine. He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 25, according to court records.
