Tickets are now on sale for the Taste of Del Ray food festival, a yearly event spotlighting the neighborhood’s food scene.
Now in its 17th year, the event put on by the Del Ray Business Association is scheduled from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at the Mount Vernon Recreation Center fields (2701 Commonwealth Avenue). The event will feature samples and live music by Mars Rodeo as attendees vote on their favorite bites.
“Ticket holders will enjoy a wide range of tastes from top Del Ray restaurants and can cast their votes for the People’s Choice award,” according to the event description.
Guests are also encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations to benefit ALIVE!, Alexandria’s largest organization addressing food and housing insecurity.
General admission is $29 for adults and $13 for kids on Eventbrite. An $82 VIP ticket comes with a wine tasting and reception at the Del Ray Artisans gallery from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., along with early admission to the festival at noon. VIP guests must bring an ID.
The event sells out every year, according to the Del Ray Business Association. The organization is selling 500 general admission tickets and 100 VIP tickets.
During last year’s People’s Choice voting, Lena’s Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap captured first place, followed by La’Baik and Evening Star Cafe’s Hi/Fi Tex-Mex BBQ in second, and Spice Kraft Indian Bistro in third.
The Judges’ Choice category, meanwhile, placed Bella Napoli Italian Restaurant first, Lena’s Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap (birria tacos) second and Taqueria Poblano (chilled seafood gazpacho) in third.
