Adoptable Pet of the Week: Spike, a ‘softie at heart’ with a zest for life

Meet Spike, a happy dog at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria who is full of energy.

The three-year-old furry friend weighs 49 pounds and is known by his distinctive tri-colored coat “and a personality that can’t be beat,” an AWLA volunteer told ALXnow.

“Spike is a softie at heart! He is an active dog who has a zest for life and a love of people,” the volunteer wrote. “[He] would make a great running partner, but if you are more of a walker, he would savor a nice stroll.”

Spike enjoys the outdoors, a good game of fetch and quality time with his favorite people. He previously lived with another dog in a former home, according to AWLA.

“If you are looking for a buddy to share life’s many adventures with, Spike may be perfect for you,” the volunteer wrote. “Contact the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria to meet Spike today.”

Spike can be visited during the shelter’s regular adoption hours.
