JUST IN: ACPS will open with two-hour delay Wednesday

Alexandria City Public Schools will open again tomorrow (Wednesday) with a two-hour delay, as impacts from the recent winter storm linger.

Superintendent Melanie Kay-Wyatt made the announcement this afternoon (Tuesday), calling for students to report to school two hours later than regular opening time. Students who ride morning buses should arrive at bus stops two hours later than their regular pickup time.

The Virginia Preschool Initiative will operate on the same delayed scheduled as ACPS.

“Morning Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) programs are canceled for tomorrow, February 4, 2026,” Kay-Wyatt said. “Afternoon ECSE will report at the regular opening time and will be dismissed at the regular time.”

Essential personnel, including maintenance and security staff, must still report to work locations at normal times, “if safe to do so based on weather conditions.”

More information is available on the ACPS website.
