Tomorrow is Election Day — Most city offices will remain open tomorrow (Tuesday), but local courts, city health facilities, Alexandria City Public Schools and the Department of Motor Vehicles are scheduled to close. [City of Alexandria]

Early Voting Numbers Grow — As of yesterday (Sunday), 29,554 early ballots have been cast in Alexandria — an increase of nearly 9,000 ballots since Tuesday last week. This includes 22,046 in-person ballots and 7,508 mail-in ballots. [Virginia Public Access Project]

Paving Scheduled This Week — Citywide street paving begins today (Monday) and will last through this Friday across Commerce Street (from S. Payne Street to S. West Street), Portner Road (from Bashford Lane to Second Street) and N. Jordan Street (from Peacock Avenue to Seminary Road). Concrete work and pedestrian improvements on Holland Lane are “ongoing.” [City of Alexandria]

Banned Book Speakeasy Returns Tomorrow — “The speakeasy [at The Study at Morrison House] will run from 5-10 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4, to Saturday, Nov. 8, with $1 from every drink sold benefiting the Virginia Library Association. The event, last held in April, will spotlight several books on PEN America’s 2025 List.” [ALXnow]

Medicare Enrollment in Old Town — The city’s open enrollment events continue at 11 a.m. today at the Charles Houston Recreation Center (901 Wythe Street) with an informational presentation. Residents can also see a Medicare enrollment counselor by appointment from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday and Thursday at the center. [City of Alexandria]

‘Summer’ Hours Continue at Museums — “While the federal government is shut down, Gadsby’s Tavern Museum (134 N. Royal Street) and the Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum (105–107 S. Fairfax Street) will continue operating on their ‘summer’ schedules to provide additional options for visitors and furloughed workers … Federal government employees and hotel guests can receive a free Key to the City Attractions pass by visiting the Alexandria Visitor Center.” [Historic Alexandria]
