A free community dance party Saturday at Pork Barrel BBQ will raise money for Alexandria children in foster care and those at risk of abuse and neglect.

The event runs from 6 to 10 p.m. at the restaurant at 2312 Mount Vernon Ave. Ten percent of all sales during the party will be donated to the Fund for Alexandria’s Child, which works to enhance the quality of life for vulnerable children through community awareness and resource development.

“We want this place overflowing with energy,” organizers said in a news release. “Every person who shows up isn’t just having fun, they’re standing up for kids in our city who need it most.”

The party will feature live music from DJ Bob, who will play classics and dance favorites. Tito’s Handmade Vodka cocktail specials will be available throughout the evening.

Admission is free with no tickets or cover charge required. Organizers are encouraging community members to attend, noting that a larger crowd will generate more funds and awareness for the cause.

The Fund for Alexandria’s Child promotes community involvement and develops resources to support children in the city’s foster care system and those facing potential abuse or neglect.

Pork Barrel BBQ is located in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria.
