The annual Nightmare on the Avenue Halloween pop-up bar will soon be reopening at 2312 Mount Vernon Avenue in Del Ray.

With new spooky interior decorations, food and drink menus, owner Bill Blackburn of the Homegrown Restaurant Group is aiming to reopen sometime next weekend — between Friday, Sept. 12, and Sunday, Sept. 14.

“We are shooting for opening next weekend, and it’s always a moving target for us,” Blackburn said. “It’s going to be fun, though. We always try to up our game and improve and make the pop-up better than the previous year.”

Blackburn said that his team set the bar high with their last concept, the Taylor Swift-themed pop-up bar Eras, which closed last month after six months in operation.

“It’ll be the same formula — creative craft cocktails with a theme and shareable plates, making it a great spot to celebrate the Halloween fall season,” Blackburn said. “It’s always a lot of fun and we’re looking forward to it.”

Nightmare on the Avenue will be open until the first weekend in November, and will reopen the week before Thanksgiving as the Christmas-themed Joy on the Avenue.
