End of an Era: Taylor Swift-themed pop-up bar closing in Del Ray

Attention Swifties: There are only a few weeks left before Eras, the Taylor Swift-themed pop-up bar, closes in Del Ray.

That’s right — no more lines around the block, friendship bracelet-making, or Taylor Swift trivia nights at 2312 Mount Vernon Avenue. After more than six months in operation, Eras will close the first weekend in August, owner Bill Blackburn tells ALXnow.

Blackburn said that the Swift-themed bar has been the most popular and well-attended pop-up he’s had in the space.

“It exceeded our expectations,” Blackburn said of Eras. “I can’t believe it’s been that long — six months. It brought a lot of people from outside the DC area to Del Ray, and a lot of them came back.”

He’ll also soon be taking bids on the decorations inside the bar, as he needs space for the next pop-up — the Nightmare on the Avenue Halloween bar, which is expected to open the first week of September.

The Halloween pop-up will be open until the first weekend in November, and will reopen the week before Thanksgiving as the Christmas-themed Joy on the Avenue.
