The number of coronavirus cases increased by four since yesterday, and there are now 2,380 overall cases, according to the Virginia Department of Health.
The number of fatalities remains at 57. There have been no new deaths since June 27.
It is not clear how many residents have recovered since the first case was announced on March 11. Senior citizens have been severely affected by the virus, and residents above the age of 50 make up all but one of the fatalities.
In Alexandria, there are 1,222 females with the virus (with 30 deaths) and 1,148 males (with 27 deaths) who tested positive for COVID-19 in the city. The sex of six cases was not reported.

- Missing — 11 cases not listed by age
Statewide, there have been 1,853 reported deaths, and 1,747 of those deaths are confirmed as COVID-related, according to VDH. There are also now 66,102 cases (63,339 confirmed) and 6,435 hospitalizations (including 41 probable cases).

There have been 15,924 PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests administered in Alexandria so far, and the city’s seven-day positivity rate shows a 4.2% infection rate of those tested. There have also been 2,535 antibody tests in Alexandria. Across Virginia, there have been 712,350 PCR tests administered with a seven-day positivity rate of 6.1% (and 76,515 antibody tests).

The areas of the city with the leading number of cases are the 22304, 22312 and 22305 ZIP codes, which include the West End and Arlandria, Potomac Yard and Potomac West neighborhoods.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!
