As noted above, Northern Virginia is expecting some heavy rainfall today with a “bomb cyclone” set to hit the east coast today.
While it’s already wet out, rain is expected to continue through tonight with precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible. Winds are expected to gust as high as 37 miles per hour.
Mostly, though, the rest of the week should be clear, with sunny skies expected through Saturday.
Widespread heavy to excessive rainfall is forecast from the Gulf Coast into the East Coast Wednesday, leading to scattered flash flooding. In the interior Northeast, heavy rain combined with snowmelt could create rises on area streams and rivers.
